What is interlibrary loaning? Interlibrary loaning is the process through which patrons gain access to a book, chapter, or article that is not immediately available in their library. Even in the technological age in which we are living, so much information remains hidden away in the furthest reaches of far-off libraries.
For instance, suppose that, while reading an obscure law review article on HeinOnline, you come across a "curious volume of forgotten lore" that suddenly seems instrumental to furthering and supporting the thesis of your substantial paper. A quick search of the library catalog reveals that no library on campus possesses it. What do you do now?
In order to make an ILL request, go to the law library website's ILL Request Form which is available through the Student Services site. Next, enter as much information as you have about the resource you need. You need not have all the information or a complete citation, just do the best that you can.
Note: Because transit time can vary, be sure to request items early.
