Legal Citators

A legal citator is a tool that provides a list of all documents (cases, statutes, secondary sources, etc.) that have cited a document. The two legal citators are KeyCite and Shepard's.

There are two broad purposes of a citator.

  1. Validity: To establish the authority of a primary source such as a case or statute
  2. Research: To assist with research by providing a list of primary and secondary sources that cite a case or statute
