The start of a new academic year is always filled with anticipation and excitement. We were happy to introduce our new students to what the law library has to offer during our recent orientation.

Our library is more than just a collection of books! It is a hub of resources tailored to support your academic journey. As you dive into your studies and research, remember that our library offers a wealth of information and services designed especially for you.

Now that everyone has settled into school, we'd like to highlight a few resources and services our library offers. Remember, you don't need to remember every detail. If you have questions or need assistance, stop by the Circulation or Reference desks, or visit the Student Services webpage.

Reference and Research Support

Need help with a citation? Wondering how to locate a book or journal? Don't know how to start researching a legal question? Not sure how to use a database? Look no further, the Law Librarians and Law Library Fellows are here to help you. Stop by the new Reference Desk from 11am - 4pm or email your questions (large or small) to our AskRef email account at reference@law-arizona.libanswers.com.  Staff monitors the account Monday - Friday from 10am to 4pm.  We look forward to hearing from you!

In addition to email, the Reference team is available to help you with your research needs via Zoom or in-person meetings. To schedule a Zoom or in-person appointment for more in depth research assistance, send an email to the AskRef email account.

West Academic Online Study Aids Collection

West Academic Study Aids provides a comprehensive online collection of study materials designed to help you succeed in law school. Included in the collection, among others, is the Acing Series, Black Letter Outlines, Gilbert Law Series, Nutshells, Hornbooks, Short & Happy Guides, and Step-by-Step Guides. In addition to 24/7 access, features include advanced search options, highlighting and note taking capability, audiobook and lecture formats, and interactive practice questions. Visit our Student Services webpage for more information.

Course Reserves

Course Reserves books are located in the white Book Cabinet near the printing stations on the library main level. This collection consists of one copy of every current semester law course textbook. These books may be checked out for two hours at a time for use in the library or in class. Instructions for using the Book Cabinet are next to it. If you have any issues using the Book Cabinet, please ask the friendly people at Circulation for assistance.

Other Circulation Services

If you require ear plugs, a flash drive, or a dongle for a monitor, stop by the Circulation desk. They can also provide information about the library's standing desks and additional monitors at study spaces. If you've misplaced an item or found something that belongs to someone else, turn it into the information desk, as they oversee the law school's Lost & Found service.

Research Guides

The Law Library Research Guide collection provides information on particular subjects or a course you may be taking. For example, when it comes time to write your required substantial paper, consult the Substantial Paper LibGuide to learn how to select a topic, conduct a preemption check (writability survey), begin your research process and more. Or, if you are conducting research in Indigenous Peoples Law & Policy, consult our IPLP Resource Guide, a comprehensive resource on American Indian Law. LibGuides are located under the Research Services tab on the Law Library website and at the Law Library LibGuide webpage

Computers, Printers, Scanners, and Phone Charging Station

The Law Library on the main level provides students with two computers situated near the WEPA print kiosk. For convenience, a charging station for computers and phones is available on the same level. The library features two WEPA kiosks for printing across its main and lower levels, each accompanied by instructional guides. The LexisNexis database offers complimentary printing, with its dedicated printer located on the lower level. Adjacent to the main level's WEPA kiosk is a multipurpose printer that accepts both money and CatCards and can scan directly to USB. Additionally, the library boasts three ScannX touch-screen scanners capable of sending scans to various outputs and providing conversion and translation services.

Your Feedback

Your feedback is invaluable to us. Whether you have ideas, suggestions, or insights about the library, we want to hear from you. Share your thoughts at the information desk, via email circulation@law-arizona.libanswers.com, or by completing a suggestion card located at the bottom of the stairs.

See you in the library!
