June 1st marked the beginning of Pride Month. Celebrations of and in LGBTQIA+ communities take place across the United States throughout the month of June to commemorate the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan. The Daniel F. Cracchiolo Law Library is celebrating Pride Month with a book display created by Library Assistant/Cataloger, Kristen Keck and Collections Management Librarian, Jessica Ugstad.

The display features books from our collection that highlight the accomplishments and challenges of LGBTQIA+ individuals and communities throughout history. Some of the books featured are:

Brown Trans Figurations by Francisco J. Galarte
Galarte presents “a theoretical framework to describe how transness and browness coexist within the larger queer, trans, and Latinx historical experiences.”

Stonewall by Martin Duberman
Renowned historian and activist Duberman details the events of June 28, 1969 that lead up to the five-day long Stonewall Uprising, a seminal event in the progression of LGBTQ+ rights.

Fragmented Citizens by Stephen Engel
Engel explores the complex issues and challenges surrounding the full legal protections of LGBTQ+ individuals in the United States through a historical lens, starting with the late 19th century through the early 21st.

Celebrate with us by browsing the full collection of books in the library or checking out our LGBTQIA+2S LibGuide for links to online resources! And have a happy and safe Pride Month!
