Library Tip of the Week: Blue Emergency Phones in Library Basement Next to Emergency Exits

by Sarah Gotschall on 2024-02-05T09:44:27-07:00 | 0 Comments

The University has installed three new emergency phones in the basement near the emergency stair exits, which lead directly to UAPD (University of Arizona Police Department). In case of an emergency, simply follow the exit signs to locate these stairs and emergency phones. These phones function just like the blue emergency phone kiosks found around campus. With only one button, pushing it will connect you directly to UAPD.

The locations of these emergency phones are as follows:

  • One near the water fountain on the way to the elevator and stairs

  • One on the west side of the building close to the library staff elevator

  • One on the west side of the building close to the large windows

In addition to the emergency phones, the University has partnered with the LiveSafe App which can be used in case of any emergency situation. After signing up, you can choose the University of Arizona as our organization, giving you access to specific features. Through the app, you can call UAPD or send emergency or non-emergency messages. Furthermore, the app is designed to track your phone's location, allowing the police to quickly locate you in case of an emergency, unlike with a normal cell phone.

We encourage all students to familiarize themselves with the locations of the emergency phones and exits!
